CMX

A world-class standard, kept by one pair of hands.

CMX builds websites the way precision instruments are built: drawn first, measured twice, assembled by hand, signed by the maker. The studio is in Padstow, Cornwall. The standard is not local.

01 · The founder

The founder

I started CMX because most small businesses get handed the same template with their logo dropped in. That is not good enough. I build every site by hand, to a standard I would be proud to put my own name on, because I do. Work with CMX and you deal with me directly, from the first call to launch and beyond.

02 · The quality floor

The standard we publish, so you can hold us to it.

  1. Q.01

    Fast on a real phone

Your site loads in under two and a half seconds on an ordinary phone on an ordinary connection, because that is where your customers are.

  2. Q.02

    Works for everyone

Accessible to recognised international standards: readable contrast, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support. Customers you cannot see are still customers.

  3. Q.03

    Never a dead end

Every page leaves the visitor one obvious next step. Forms validate properly, confirm properly, and reach a human who replies within one working day.

  4. Q.04

    One of one

No two CMX sites share a layout system, a type pairing or a palette. We keep a register and we keep the rule. Your site will look like nothing else, including nothing of ours.

03 · The studio

Made in Cornwall. Measured against everywhere.

The work happens late, in a dark room, with one cyan signal alive on the screen.

Padstow gives the studio its rhythm; the open web gives it its bar. Every build is judged against the best independent studio work in the world, not against the site down the road. If you are local, come and talk. If you are not, the work travels at the speed of light.
